Divine Eats: Phoenix

Phoenix, Arizona—affectionately known as the Valley of the Sun—welcomed me with scorching skies and unforgettable flavor.

My first stop? Cocina Madrigal, a local gem I found by a review from food vlogger “Strictly Dumpling.” His glowing review led me straight to a meal I’d never forget: the “Hatch Green Chili Pork“, a dish so mouthwatering, I’ve returned four times just to relive it. On the last visit, I was introduced to the divine “chocolate chipotle pie“. A must! Heartbreakingly, the restaurant had just shuttered due to a fire at its brick and mortar location in 2024.

The good news? Cocina Madrigal is back, this time rolling through Phoenix as a food truck, keeping its signature flavors alive on wheels. There is also a mention of the “Hatch Green Chili Pork” coming soon…

Little Miss BBQ – University Location – Phoenix, Arizona is a must-visit for any barbecue lover in Phoenix. With two locations, this spot serves up some of the most mouthwatering smoked meats in the Valley. The original location is small and unassuming—the kind of place where the line forms early and the brisket sells out fast. But trust me, it’s worth it. Tender, flavorful, and perfectly smoked, everything from the ribs to the pulled pork is BBQ done right. Get there early, and bring your appetite!

Pizzeria Bianco – Heritage Square – Phoenix, Arizona. If you’re in Phoenix and looking for a truly memorable pizza experience, Pizzeria Bianco in Heritage Square is a must-visit. Be prepared—this place is walk-up and dine-in only, with no reservations accepted. If you do find yourself waiting, no worries—you can head next door and enjoy a cocktail at the bar while you wait for your table. Once you’re seated, the pizza comes out quick, fresh, and piping hot straight from the wood-fired oven.
