Vegas… via Denver.

Chad and I are sitting in the Denver airport awaiting our flight to Las Vegas. It was 60 degrees this morning when we left for the airport in Des Moines at 5am and it is 20 degrees here. Icky ice and snow. If you didn’t know me you probably wouldn’t believe that I am a native North Dakotan. I am becoming a bit of a wuss with the cold.

We got here a bit early and tried to get on an earlier flight. They had room but because we checked a bag we could not change flights. So we get to sit in the airport for 2.5 hours. I guess we could get travel sized bags to carry on, but I am not in a hurry to be “one of those people” with a carry on bag. If I ever did this my bag would have to be the right size and I would definitely check it at the gate if I was flying on a mini-plane. I have a bit of a pet peeve when it comes to the topic. In all my adventures this is the first time that I have even really considered it.  I have run into several instances were the carry on bags have been a nightmare. People who think their bag is a carry on and try to stuff it in the overhead, people who arrive late to get the whole plane involved in trying to find room for their bag. Also those who find a place for their bag on a full flight just to realize right before takeoff that they need to get access to it again… it goes on and on. Anyway.. if you don’t know me or haven’t figured it out yet… I (we) have a bit of an obsession when it comes to going to Las Vegas. We go a few times a year and when that trip is over we can’t wait for the next one. We have discussed that we need to broaden our horizons and start traveling elsewhere but when we get such good deals… how can we refuse? We used our air miles for the flight which only cost us $20 and we received and awesome deal from the M resort. Free nights and a $50 comp. I think that was awesome since we have only actually been there one time before. Vegas is hurting right now so they are doing anything they can to get people there… works for me! More to come…
