Kitchen Remodel

Happy Thanksgiving!

Well, it has been a whirlwind of a year, full of ups and downs. However, I am certainly thankful for many things, most of all my health, my husband, our families, our friends, and the great times we make together. May you all have a great holiday season while holding close what is most important to you.

Last December we were fortunate to move into a different and newer house here in Des Moines. The house needed some work, but it was a location and a space we couldn’t turn down. However, in my opinion the kitchen was a wallpaper nightmare with lavender trim. Yes, lavender trim. So… time for a Kitchen Remodel!

The Demo.

Removal of the header above the sink. Almost everything new. There was even wallpaper on the ceiling that needed to be removed.

Some of the finishes we chose.

A lot of time, effort, decisions, and planning went into this project. Overall, it is a lot of work and a big financial impact, but I feel it was well worth it in the end.

Our wonderful kitchen designer was Sarah Wolfgang who was referred to us by a friend. Sarah is professional, has a great creative eye, full of ideas, and fully exceeded our expectations. Our contractor was Jason Andersen with Concept Design Construction. Jason and his team are top-notch and are amazing with the details, especially wood finishing work. They are both highly recommended from Chad and me. Please look them up if you are considering a remodel in the Des Moines Metro.

What do you do when you have a large piece of granite leftover from your remodel? Finish the downstairs bar top of course!

After all that it was party time with friends.

Memories made and many more to come after this lengthy project. It was well worth the wait and we are looking forward to many more great times in this space.
