Yep. It is that time of year again in Iowa. Time to make the journey to feast on naughty foods on a stick and see a very large cow made entirely out of butter.

This year I had to stop at Bauder’s to get a Peppermint Ice Cream Sandwich. My friend Teri has told me about these things since I moved to Iowa. I thought I would try some of her favorites this year so this was first on the list. Dessert first, right? Well it is the fair.

Peppermint ice cream, with chocolate fudge covered on top and bottom with crushed oreo’s. How could it be bad? It wasn’t, but it was enough that 3 of us had to share it.

Next up my friend Penne and I shared a Jennie Grinder. This is another one of Mrs. Teri’s favorites, so we gave it a shot. Chocked full of Italian sausage, cheese on a hoagie bun. This thing was SO good. The sausage was a bit spicy, the cheese was gooey and the bun was steamed a bit inside of the tin foil which gave it the perfect texture. It is definitely a keeper!
